Do you know how much EMI noise is on your power lines?
The issue is that it is obviously a bad idea to connect your oscilloscope or spectrum analyzer directly to your power line?
Our hand-held MSN12 EMI interface adapter provide a barrier to high mains voltages, but allows for high-frequency signals to pass through to your sensitive measuring instrument.
There is also an option of a plug-in (currently with a USA plug) adapter, both of which can measure differential ("normal") and common-mode noise.
With your oscilloscope (a high-speed digital storage scope is recommended), you will be able to observe the transient signals on your power lines. This is often much more beneficial than using a spectrum analyzer, because majority of EMI signals on power lines are transient (spikes and alike) which spectrum analyzers can easily miss.
The MSN12 comes with the following:

If you are planning to use MSN12 with a spectrum analyzer, you may want to consider optional 20dB attenuator, since the peak EMI signals on power lines may exceed the input capabilities of your spectrum analyzer. This is not a problem for oscilloscopes which should be set to 1MOhm input.
